Increasing the overall illumination makes up for those lost daylight hours and bare feeling when the Christmas decorations come down. Brightening up dark corners and nooks is a sure way to chase gloom away. On our mantle, we left out our white snowy trees and then just added a few Valentine's items here and there. We use white lights to add a touch of whimsy to our home and warm the heart as we push through the dark days of winter. We then added a couple icy berry garlands and snowflake stems for a splash of red and white. It doesn't take much to add a loving touch.
