We would describe our Christmas decor as bright, merry, and whimsical. In this month's blog, we are going to take you on holiday tour of our home!
Front Porch Welcome to our front porch. The front porch and doorway is one of the main focal areas we choose to decorate for every season. A natural pine garland is the base for this doorway. Red snow berries, glittery black and white poinsettia picks, and layered bows complete this festive garland. We hung a Petals & Potpourri teardrop door piece on the door and put down an adorable red, black, and white door mat with a snowman. A quick and easy trick for seasonal decorating is using bows! We used four of our designer wired ribbons to make beautiful bows to attach to the porch lights. A quick decorating tip - We will transition to a Valentine's doorway by adding a few hearts and valentine elements to the same garland base and red berries.
Treasured Family Pieces
It wouldn't be Christmas without putting out our treasured family pieces. Mike's grandma painted the ceramic carolers and lamp post. They are nestled in a beautiful flocked garland layered with a lighted ball garland. We love the soft glow of the lights.
The green and gold glass pedestal candy dish that was Amber's grandmothers. We filled it with vintage glass ornaments.
Living Room In the living room, we decorated the tree using our secret recipe for Christmas tree decorating (see November 2019 blog). We used a lighted branch for the tree topper which can be used in your everyday decor after Christmas is over. We used three layers of ribbon for the bows and placed in a diamond pattern. Then layered the ball ornaments and evenly distributed three different floral picks throughout. The tree is pre-lit with white lights, but we added a strand of cluster lights to kick it up a notch. These lights have a remote that can switch the colors from white to multicolored. We like mixing the white lights with the multicolored!
Kitchen No matter how comfortable your living room is, everyone gathers in the kitchen. So don't forget to decorate in there! Christmas tea towels are an easy way to add some Christmas cheer to your kitchen.
This little Christmas tree displays our favorite baking and peppermint ornaments. We topped it with a red and white country check ribbon and wired little bowties to the base. This is so easy to do! Just layer two ribbons at different lengths, placing the longer length on the bottom. Pinch and hold in the middle while wrapping a floral wire around the bowtie and twist the wires together in the back (like a sandwich bag twist tie). Secure the bow to the pole of the tree using same twist tie motion.
We were having so much fun playing with ribbons we decided to dress the two cabinet doors over our plate racks with glittery red and white stripped bows.
Dining Area This teal blue hutch is my favorite piece of furniture and it is one of our main focal areas we decorate for every season and holiday. We like decorating with gingerbread and candy! The candy cane and poinsettia glass jars are filled with spiced gumdrops and three mason jars filled with soft peppermint candy, mini marshmallows, and peppermint sticks. The glass cloche is a fun way to display kitchen or food items and the bow gives it a finished look. We will set up a hot cocoa bar here on Christmas Day!
Our dining table centerpiece is very simple. A lighted water lantern sets on a wood base and black & white buffalo check table runner with two gorgeous potted artificial poinsettias on each side. The chandelier is decorated with two wispy greenery garlands and the red glass ball ornaments are wired to each arm of the chandelier.
Christmas is a time for reflection on the humble birth of our Savior. This stunning white and glittery nativity scene tells the intimate story of the true meaning of Christmas. The holy family is slightly elevated in the center of a soft flocked garland and white lights, surrounded by the three wise men and animals.
